Family policies

What families ask us before camp starts.

Photos of your child

We ask your written permission before we share any photo of your child, on this site, in newsletters or on social media, and you can change your answer at any time. We never put a child's name with a photo, and the photos on this site are examples until we replace them with our own.

What to wear and bring

Send a hat, sunscreen already on, a water bottle, closed shoes, a light jacket for the air conditioning and a change of clothes. Everything carries your camper's first name. On Fridays campers may wear something clean and special for the gathering if they like. Phones and toys stay home.

Drop-off and pickup

An adult on your list signs your camper in and out at the front entrance. We ask for ID at pickup until we know you. Tell us ahead of time when someone new is coming.

When to keep your child home

A camper with a fever, vomiting or a contagious illness stays home and returns after a full day of being well. If a camper feels ill at camp, we call you and a counselor stays with them until you arrive.

Meals, snacks and allergies

Camp follows the congregation's kosher food rule: no pork or shellfish, and meat and dairy are never in the same meal. Camp serves the morning snack, and families pack a dairy or vegetarian lunch in a cold pack. Tell us at registration about allergies, and we ask what we need privately.

Holidays, heat and storms

Camp is closed on Independence Day and on Tisha B'Av. On hot days the big game moves into the shade or indoors. When we hear thunder, everyone goes inside until half an hour has passed. We text families before 7:30 a.m. when the plan changes.

Screens and phones

Phones and tablets stay home. A camper who needs to reach you can use the office phone, and we call you if we need you.
